(x) VenezuelaBritish Post Office1874 (Feb. 8) entire letter from La Guaira to Veracruz (Mexico), being initially forwarded through the Venezuelan P.O. of La Guaira with double circle in blue at top right, franked at the British Consular P.O. with 4d. vermilion, pl. 13, cleanly tied by “C60” obliterator, and also very unusually tied by the accompanying La Guaira c.d.s., backstamped at St. Thomas. Although adhesives were introduced at La Guaira in 1865, the “C60” cancel is not recorded until 1873. Probably the finest available example of this very scarce usage. Cert.
