1881 (27 Sept.) soldier's envelope from Sergeant Major Strachen, 2nd Wilts in Wynberg to James Smith, Wood of Erchite, Inverness-shire bearing 1871-76 1d. carmine-red tied by barred oval, with Wynberg d.s. alongside, countersigned by commanding officer, the reverse with Cape Town and Inverness d.s. Adhesive with small nick in sheet margin at left, otherwise fine and scarce.
