1820-1898, an outstanding exhibition collection presented on 80 pages (5 exhibiting frames), featuring a comprehensive range of items from this period, including pre-philatelic covers, rare 1860 essays, plating study of the 1870 issue, with other highlights being "Number One" 1r. rose on an envelope addressed to Corrientes (Scott $2000), 1878 5c. surcharge with various used and mint examples, various colour essays, multiples and perforation varieties from 1879-1881. A stand-out piece is the sheet reconstruction of the 1881-1884 "1" surcharge on 1r. rose comprising four equally large multiples -originating from the prestigious Benítez Ciotti collection. Additional rarities include 1884 proofs, an 1887 issue on cover to Buenos Aires (signed Holcombe), a scarce usage of the 1887 20c. + 15c. on cover to Berlin (also signed by Holcombe), an 1889-91 engraved essay and numerous covers from the 1892-96 issue, among them a remarkable example bearing the postmark "COLONIA NUEVA GERMANIA". A particularly rare highlight is the 1890 "Oficial" overprint on 10c. on cover with heading of the foreign office to Buenos Aires (signed Holcombe). The collection concludes with an assortment of postal stationeries, including illustrated examples. A detailed viewing is highly recommended
