1915-18 Third Watermark £1 chocolate and dull blue, block of nine, each overprinted "specimen" (Type B) [40-42/ 46-48/ 52-54] and showing varieties broken coast in Bight [41] and [53], kangaroo's ear broken and break in value circle at lower left; well-centred and superb unmounted mint. Believed to be from the Australia Post archives, and with just two other blocks of nine known; of exhibition quality. S.G. 44s.var., BW 52Ax etc., $50,000+ (plus premium for the varieties)
