Dalhousie.); Naval General Service 1915-62, G.V.R., one clasp, Persian Gulf 1909-1914 (Lieut. E.J. Constant, R.I.M.S. Minto.), edge bruise; 1914-15 Star (Lt. Cr. E.J. Constant, R.N.); British War and Victory Medals (Lt. Commr. E.J. Constant. R.N.), very fine, scarce (5) Estimate £ 600-650 Lieutenant-Commander Ernest John Constant, born Jhelum, India, 1876; apprenticed to Messrs Devitt & Moore for 3 years; obtained his 2nd Mate´´s Certificate (No.031660, 6.4.1897), and entered the P&O Company´´s service; commissioned Sub Lieutenant Royal Indian Marine, 25.8.1898; Lieutenant 25.8.1902; after service in the Troop Ships R.I.M.S. Dalhousie and Minto off two different continents, Constant resigned his commission from the Royal Indian Marine, 24.8.1914; he was appointed Temporary Lieutenant-Commander, Royal Navy, 24.4.1915, and saw service during the Great War including with H.M.S. Grafton (Rear Admiral Thomas Jackson´´s flag-ship), from 7.8.1918.
