R.M.L.I.), Canadian issue; Naval Long Service & G.C., G.V.R., 1st ´Admiral´s bust´ type (Ch.10574 L.J. Finch., Sergeant. R.M.L.I.), toned, very fine, scarce, with photograph of recipient (5) Estimate £ 320-360 10594 Colour-Sergeant Lewis John Finch, born Marylebone, London, 1881; enlisted Private Royal Marines, 1898; served in H.M.S. Goliath, 27.3.1900-8.10.1903; Corporal 3.11.1905; Sergeant 3.11.1911; with the outbreak of the Great War he was loaned to the Canadian Navy, and served in H.M.C.S. Rainbow, 10.7.1914-8.5.1917; whilst serving in the latter he took part in the capture of the schooners Oregon (23.4.1916) and the Leonor (2.5.1916), for which he shared in the prize money; served in H.M.C.S Niobe, 9.5.1917-22.4.1919; Master-at-Arms 20.5.1918; Colour-Sergeant 11.7.1918; transferred Royal Fleet Reserve, 15.7.1920.
