R.A.), good very fine, mounted for wear (4) Estimate £ 350-400 M.M. London Gazette 18.7.1917 34428 Gnr. A. Lambert 49th By. R.F.A. 34428 Gunner Arthur Lambert, M.M., born Birmingham; joined the 101st Battery Royal Field Artillery, 25.5.1904; transferred to the Army Reserve in 1907, before being mobilized, 5.8.1914; served during the Great War with the 49th Battery, 40th Brigade Royal Field Artillery on the Western Front from 19.8.1914; he was killed in action 28.9.1918, during the closing months of the War when allied attention on the Western Front was focused on the final assault on the Hindenburg Line; Lambert is buried in the Hermies Hill British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
