Auction: 7023 - The Glenister Collection of British Coins & other Ancient, English & Foreign Coins & Comm Medals
Lot: 403
Wax study on slate of a standing goddess, by William Wyon, probably a depiction of Pallas Athena, cuirassed and draped, standing facing, her left hand on hip, her right hand resting on a plain shield at her feet, white wax, the slate inscribed with concentric circles, overall diam. 42mm., diam. of area in wax 31mm. Estimate £ 60-80 Some wax details have clearly been removed from the fields, and the design on the shield has also been erased, making this a very ´generic´ item. It is not known if this particular design was taken any further. It was originally mounted for display with the following two studies, lots 404 and 405.
