E. Denley. Devon:R.); British War and Victory Medals (10235 Pte. E. Denley. Devon.R.), good very fine or better, with photographic image of recipient (3) Estimate £ 140-160 10235 Private Edward Denley, born Tewkesbury; educated at Naunton Park School, Cheltenham, ´He joined the Devonshire Regiment in Devonport.... and was serving with the 8th Battalion in France when he was wounded at the battle of Loos in September 1915. He did not return until March 1916 and was with the 1st Battalion in France when he was shot through the head by a sniper and killed instantly, 2.6.1916, and is buried in Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery´ (Leaving All That Was Dear, refers).
