A Great War 1916 ´Somme´ Casualty Group of Three to Second Lieutenant A.N. Marshall, Bedfordshire Regiment 1914-15 Star (2.Lieut. A.N. Marshall. Bedf. R.); British War Medal (2.Lieut. A.N. Marshall); Victory Medal, unnamed, very fine or better, with a photographic image of recipient (3) Estimate £ 140-180 Second Lieutenant Arthur Norris Marshall, born Newent, Gloucestershire, 1896; educated Dean Close School, Cheltenham, where he was a member of the O.T.C., ´on the outbreak of war he volunteered for service and was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment, on the 16th June 1915, serving on the Western Front attached to the 1st Battalion from November 1915. He was killed by a shell in action at Longueval, Somme sector, on the 31st July 1916; he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.´ (Leaving All That Was Dear, refers).
