BURMA World War II Postal History 1942 (7 Feb.) envelope from a major in "1 Burdiv c/o No. 2 F.P.O. Taungggyi Burma" to his wife in India, bearing 11/2a. pair and 2a. sharing two strikes of the very rare "experimental p.o./r-28" c.d.s. and with two different censor cachets alongside, Rawalpindi d.s. on reverse; also from the same writer 1942 (13 June) envelope similarly franked and cancelled with "base p.o./burma" c.d.s. An exceptional pair of covers with the former being used on the second day usage of this Experimental P.O. Photo Estimate £ 250-300 Note: On 16 January 1942, No. 5 Section Base P.O. arrived in Rangoon, but some equipment was accidently left in Calcutta. The Supervisor obtained from the Director General, Posts and Telegraphs, Rangoon, a set of stamps and seals engraved "experimental p.o./r-28" and opened for business with Army H.Q. on Monday 7 February 1942
