McMahon, 44th Regiment, Late 84th Regiment Indian Mutiny, two clasps, Defence of Lucknow, Lucknow (John McMahon, 84th Regt.); China 1857-60, one clasp, Taku Forts 1860 (John McMahon 44th Regt); Army Long Service & G.C., V.R. (536.John McMahon, 44th Foot), edge bruising, otherwise good very fine, first and last with silver riband buckles Estimate £ 850-900 Private John McMahon, born Armagh, Redhill, Co. Covan, Ireland, attested for the 84th Regiment 1843, aged 20 years, and served with them in India; was present in Sir Henry Havelock´s 1st Relief Force of Lucknow, and was wounded 7.11.1857; transferred to the 44th Regiment 28.2.1859; was discharged at his own request to Calcutta 27.10.1863 and died there 1st March the following year.
