Lot: 564

1841 1d., unplated, HA, just clear or touched to large margins, on entire to entire from Kirkliston to Edinburgh dated 12 February 1845, tied by fine light strike of the black Maltese Cross (applied by the postmaster at Kirkliston, contrary to the new instruction – presumably because no numeral type was available to him) and then correctly cancelled on arrival by fine light “131” Edinburgh numeral; two folds (one slightly soiled, the other crossing adhesive but not detracting). Rare and most attractive. Photo Estimate £ 400-500
