Guadeloupe “1813 2 Livres 5 Sous”, 5.02g., cut “quarter” from a Dollar that was pierced (1811) with crenellated edges and countermarked with a contemporary oblong cut corner punch, in imitation of the crowned G stamps of the 1813 issue, but blank, an interesting contemporary forgery (Pr. 13var.), toned, good very fine Estimate £ 30-40 On the longer edge one can clearly see both the original cut of the square hole from the 1811 cut Dollar, and the later crenellated cut by the forger.
