The Deposition. Rectangular plaquette (not domed), Mantua c.1550. Bronze, 72 x 113mm. Two bearded men lift the dead body of Christ as Mary Magdalene weeps at his feet, beside them stands St. John on the left and the Virgin supported by two women on the right; a ladder leans on the cross behind them, the crown of thorns and a vase lie at their feet.
