"A85": 1865 (17 Jan.) opened-out envelope to Dublin "Via London", marked "Naval Officers Letter 'Severn'" and bearing G.B. Q.V. 1d. Stars (4) and 1862-64 4d. (2) tied by good strikes of the "A85" barred oval, paying the double rate of postage; the reverse with Hong Kong c.d.s. (30.1) and H & K Packet (23.3) c.d.s. Marked on arrival that this letter originated in Yokohama. There are two small adhesive tape marks on the reverse which just show through to the front. A rare and remarkable cover from one of the China Station ships anchored in Yokohama. Photo
