Charles Alexander Stuart was born in Bloomsbury, London in 1878 and initially served with the 4th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers before enlisting into the Army Post Office Corps in January 1900, aged 22 years old. The Boer War was Stuart's sole campaign, serving out there for two and a half years; in his final few months he was promoted Corporal. He discharged in October 1902 and joined the Reserves, with whom he served until January 1906.
Seemingly unwilling to endure civilian street for very long, Stuart enlisted once more in March 1906, again into the A.P.O.C. under the new service number '931'. He did however only serve two of the three years of his short service contract, owing to "ceasing to be employed by the Post Office". He discharged from the Army on 26 July 1908.
Confirmed on both the Queen's and King's South Africa Medal Rolls respectively, this pair is his sole entitlement; sold together with copied research.
