East and Central Africa 1897-99, silver, 1 clasp, 1898 (1190 Pte Datullah. 27/Bom: Inf:.), a couple of light contact marks, otherwise very fine
Datullah is confirmed on the roll for the medal and clasp, with the operation being noted as Ogaden Somalis. He was serving at Karachi at the time the medal roll was written. A total of 163 medals were awarded to the 27th Bombay Infantry for this campaign.
The clasp was authorised in July 1899 and was awarded to the forces commanded by Major W. Quentin, operating against the Ogaden Somalis under Sultan Ahmad bin Marghan, who were in rebellion.
