Military General Service 1793-1814, 4 clasps, Corunna, Barossa, Pyrenees, Toulouse (George Lavis, 28th Foot.), some edge bruising and contact marks overall, generally nearly very fine

George Lavis was from Pitney, Somerset and enlisted into the 28th Foot on 26 April 1805. Lavis appears on a Muster Roll as having been wounded with the additional note of General Hospital. He appears on the Waterloo medal roll serving in Captain Richard Kelly's Company and the medal is noted as having been sent to him on 14 August. He was admitted to Out-Pension on 6 May 1816 and appears on a list issued by Haslar dated 7 May 1816 entitled 'Nominal List of Men who were absent from the 28th Regiment and whose Medals are returned'. Lavis was married to Mary Squire on 31 December 1818 at Pitney, Somerset and died at Pitney on 29 September 1852. He also appears with the surname Lavais and he also signed his name as Leaves for his marriage record.
