(x) Air Force Cross, G.V.R., the reverse engraved 'Capt. P. Brend RFC', an old tailor's copy, very fine
Philip Brend was born on 7 July 1895 and lived at Herley Villa, 35 Long Hand. He attested on 11 June 1916 and served with the Royal Naval Air Service throughout the war with the service number 38080. For his war service, he was awarded the Air Force Cross on 2 November 1918 and was further entitled to British War and Victory Medals. On the 1 April 1918, Brend joined the newly formed Royal Air Force and was stationed at Houton Seaplane Station in 1918 before transferring to Scapa Air Station in 1919.
