Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (4007. Col Segt. H. Woolven. 95th Regt.), engraved, with white metal bar for wear, very fine

Henry Woolven was born at Shere, near Guildford and attested for the 95th Regiment at Newport, Isle of Wight on 12 July 1856, he had been a musician prior to enlistment. He served with the 2nd Battalion until 2 September 1879 and then served with the 3rd Battalion from 3 September 1879 - 14 March 1882 when he was discharged at his own request on payment of enrolment expenses. He had spent 13 years serving in the East Indies yet his L.S. & G.C. medal was his only entitlement which he was awarded on 1 October 1876.

Sold with a copied photograph of him proudly wearing his medal at the Old Comrades Association Dinner held in Derby in 1912 and copied service papers.
