Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (5910 Corpl. G. Jarrett. R.A.), very fine
George Jarrett was born and raised in Chatham, Kent and worked as a farm labourer before he enlisted to join the Royal Artillery, aged 19 years old. He enlisted on the 29 December 1878 and served solely at home for his entire military career. On 7 April 1891, he was promoted to Corporal. From August 1891, Jarrett served in Belfast, from June 1892 he served at Cork, and from November 1893 he served in the Southern District before finishing his career in the Scottish District, predominantly serving at Edinburgh. He was discharged on 24 January 1895 and this medal was his sole entitlement.
