Albert Henry Osborne Campion was born at Chudleigh, Devon and was previously a butcher before he attested into the Medical Staff Corps at Exeter on 25 March 1898. He served in South Africa from 3 November 1899 - 8 August 1903 and was promoted to Corporal on 1 August 1903. He returned Home on 9 August 1903 and remained at Home for the next ten years. Campion was promoted to Sergeant on 22 June 1910 and with the outbreak of the Great War in August 1914 he entered the war in France on 24 August 1914 and was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 12 October 1914. He stayed in France as part of the B.E.F. until he returned Home on 7 August 1916 where he remained for the rest of his army service. Campion was awarded his L.S. & G.C. AO April 1917 and was promoted to Quartermaster Sergeant on 13 July 1917, this was followed by promotion to Warrant Officer Class II on 22 June 1918. Campion was entitled to a 1914 Star Trio with clasp and he applied for his clasp to the 1914 Star in October 1920. Campion is further entitled to a Silver War Badge (B214556 ) as a result of sickness and was discharged at Devonport on 17 April 1919 as no longer being physically fit for war service. He appears in the 1939 census as a dispenser living in Kent and died on 2 March 1957, he is buried in Brookwood Cemetery, Brookwood, Surrey.
