The D.C.M. awarded to Battery Quartermaster-Sergeant R. A. Jackson, Royal Field Artillery
Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (780087 B.Q.M.Sit. R. A. Jackson. R.F.A.), the suspension slightly bent, overall very fine
D.C.M. London Gazette 9 March 1920, the original citation states:
'For exceptional gallantry, especially on 12th/13th October, 1918, near Avesnes-le-Sec. On both these days heavy fire came down on gun lumbers and firing battery wagons, which were formed up ready for acances [SIC], causing heavy casualties. He set a fine example to the men, moving his teams steadily out of shelled areas.'
Robert A. Jackson entered the war in France on 15 April 1915, at some stage during the fighting he suffered a Shell Wound to the nose.
