A good 'runners' D.C.M. group of four awarded to Lance Corporal D. G. McGregor, 38th Field Company, Royal Engineers

Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (9863 Sapr D. G. McGregor. 38/F.Co.: R.E.); 1914 Star (9863 Sapr: D. G. McGreger. R.E.), note misspelt surname, with clasp; British War and Victory Medals (9863 Spr. D. C. McGregor. R.E.), mounted together with the Efficiency Medal awarded to his son, Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., Territorial (1474402. Bdr. D. C. G. McGregor. R.A.), the middle initial officially corrected, minor pitting and edge bruising, overall nearly very fine (4)

D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1916, the original citation states:

'For conspicuous gallantry. One of the bridges over the canal had been destroyed, but he made his way across and delivered an urgent message under intensely heavy shell fire.'

Duncan George McGregor was born at Shoeburyness, Essex on 29 June 1882 and enlisted on 17 October 1901 with the Royal Engineers. He entered the war on 8 September 1914 and served until finally being discharged on 5 April 1918. Settling in Greenwich he died there in 1952; sold together with copied paperwork.

Duncan George Charles McGregor was born at Chelmsford on 23 July 1910, the son of Duncan and Hellen McGregor. He served during the Second World War with a Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery and was discharged on 14 January 1946.
