Cyril Hulatt was born in 1900 to Arthur Hulatt, a boot checker, and his mother Annie Munds and was one of seven siblings. In October 1931, he married Dorothy Alice Dedman in Northampton and the couple had a son, Peter, born in 1932. Hulatt then enlisted into the Royal Army Service Corps and served as a Driver throughout the Second World War with the service number 14259624. He was discharged from service on 5 January 1946. Hulatt later worked as a Sergeant's Mess Caterer and on the 27 January 1961, he was gazetted for his Imperial Service Medal under the heading 'War Office'.
