Derrick Frank Garby was born on 13 October 1926 in Coventry to Florence and Frank Garby and later enlisted into the 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He died on 23 August 1947 in a road accident whilst serving in Palestine, he was 19 years old. He is buried at the Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel. Sold with copied research, a cardboard box in which the medals were issued and a newspaper cutting reporting his death.

C. Garby was likely a brother of Derrick Garby.
