Adrian John Clark was born on 9 April 1889 and disembarked in France on 15 March 1915 serving as a Captain with the 23rd London Regiment. He gazetted for his promotion to Deputy Assistant Adjutant-General on 29 March 1916, and then to Brevet Major on 8 March 1918. He then transferred to the Royal Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, as gazetted on 2 July 1918. He was further entitled to the 1914-15 Star and Military Division O.B.E., 1st Type. His civilian job was Barrister at law.
