Clifford William Redwood was born in Surrey on 19 November 1899 and attested with the Royal Navy as a Stoker Class II on 11 January 1915. Posted to Syren on 8 May 1915 she served with the Dover Patrol for most of the war, Redwood went ashore in March 1918 and was posted to the Light Cruiser Birmingham.
Serving on Coastal Motor Boats between 1921-23 Redwood later joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1927 as Stoker Petty Officer serving in Quebec until 1929. He re-entered the Royal Navy on 22 March 1937 as Stoker Class I although it is unclear in what capacity he served there; sold together with copied research including a copied Jubilee Medal roll.
