Reginald Wiliam Elphick was born at East Grinstead, Sussex on 14 October 1897 and was previously a garden boy before he enlisted into the Royal Navy as Boy 2nd Class on 29 October 1913. Elphick served on Inconstant from 28 December 1914 -1 May 1917, he then served on Vernon from 2 May 1917 - 8 August 1917 before serving on Amphitrite from 9 August 1917 - 31 December 1917. He served on Victory I from 1 January 1918 - 26 February 1918 before serving on Woolwich from 27 February 1918 - 15 May 1918. Elphick then served on Apollo from 16 May 1918 - 26 June 1918 before returning to Victory I from 27 June 1918 - 12 July 1918. He then served on Vernon between 13 July 1918 -30 April 1919. Elphick was awarded his L.S. & G.C. in 1930 and was Pensioned on 13 October 1937. He re-enlisted on 17 February 1940 and first served on Victory I before serving on Daedalus from 22 February 1940 and to Daedalus II from 26 April 1940. He was released from the Royal Navy on 19 September 1945.
