Frederick Bruce Gibson was born at Cheadle, Cheshire in 1893, the son of John and Isabella Gibson. The family relocated north to Westmorland with Gibson appearing on the 1901 census at Bowness on Windermere. He enlisted there with the 11th (Lonsdale) Battalion at Workington, Cumberland.
Entering the war in France on 23 November 1915 he served there until the next year when the Battalion went into an attack in the Wagon Road sector on 18 November 1916. They managed limited gains but ended the day with having failed to affect a major breakthrough. Gibson was buried at the Waggon Road Cemetery, Beaumont-Hamel; sold together with a copy of The War Graves of the British Empire - France 150 - 153.
John Dixon Gibson was born at Cheadle, Cheshire in 1897, the son of John and Isabella Gibson. The family relocated north to Westmorland with Gibson appearing on the 1901 census at Bowness on Windermere alongside his brother. He was posted to India with his Battalion and initially specialised as a signaller in Mesopotamia.
Taken onto the strength of Dunsterforce Signal Section, Gibson was noted as catching Malaria and died of disease while with them on 29 July 1918. He is buried in the Tehran War Cemetery; sold together with a copy of The War Graves of the British Empire - Asia 67-81.
