William Masters was born at St.Nicholas, Surrey and enlisted at Guildford, enlisted on 19 January 1915 and disembarked in France, serving with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. On 5 April 1916, he was injured at Loos after the Germans exploded a mine and died the following day having returned to the front line. He is buried at the Lillers Communal Cemetery, France.
