Alfred Albert Sudbury was born at Bonsall, Derbyshire, and was previously a railway labourer before he enlisted at Derby. He first entered the war in France on 14 July 1915. Sudbury was reported as missing in the period 21-23 March 1918 and was considered as killed in action on 21 March 1918 during the German offensive near Vaulx-Morchies/Maricourt Road, France. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
