Sidney Oliver Gosling was born at Torquay, Devon in 1885. He was a Railway Platelayer when he enlisted in the 5th Battalion, Devon Regiment. He later served in the 2nd Garrison Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers and allotted a new service number. Sidney died at Totnes, Devon in March 1927.

Leopold Alfred Barville was born at Hanwell, Middlesex in 1891 and was a railway clearing house clerk when he enlisted in the 9th London Regiment entering France on 9 May 1915.
