Punjab 1848-49, 2 clasps, Goojerat, Chilianwala (E. J. White. 14th Lt. Dragns.), the post somewhat bent, otherwise light contact marks, very fine

A private Edwin J Wright is listed as serving with the 14th Dragoons with the service number 1536 at Meerut in 1851. It is unclear if this is the same man who served in the Punjab three years earlier however he did serve until the Indian Mutiny. Seeing action in a number of actions throughout the Mutiny including the climactic Capture of Gwalior, White died on 3 May 1859.

The 14th Light Dragoons served with Brigadier Pope’s Brigade at the Battle of Chilianwala. After a disastrous charge the Regiment broke and fled the field, their Colonel committed suicide not long later after accusations of cowardice.
