Punjab 1848-49, 2 clasps, Goojerat, Chilianwala (Serjt. J. McGuire, 9th Lancers.), contact marks, nearly very fine

Purchased November 1976.

John McGuire was born at Woodford, Essex in 1814 and joined the 9th Lancers at Dublin in April 1825, at that time a 14 year old shoemaker. Made Trumpeter in September 1825, he was made Corporal in September 1841 and Sergeant in April 1842. He was eventually discharged in May 1853, having shared in the Sutlej campaign (Medal & clasp) and taken an L.S. & G.C. Medal in April 1853; sold together with copied research.
