Edward Loader was a musician and attested for service with the Shropshire Light Infantry at only fifteen years of age on 25 October 1894 at London. Serving as a Boy, he was posted to India in November 1895 where he was stationed for the next seven years. Returned home to England in March 1903, he was advanced Lance Corporal in May and later re-engaged to serve for a 21 year term of engagement with the Colours. Loader did not remain at home for long and found himself again posted to service in India in November 1903, where he remained for over the next decade.
Whilst in India, Loader was promoted Lance Sergeant in April 1912 and Sergeant that November and received his L.S. & G.C. in April 1913. He continued to serve in India upon the outbreak of the Great War, finally returning to England on 13 January 1915. He was being invalided home due to his epilepsy, for which he had been medically examined with his epileptic attacks commencing from 1909. These attacks had become more frequent and as a result he was discharged before the end of the war on 12 February, being no longer physically fit for war service. Following his discharge, he intended to reside at a Soldier's Home in Whittington Heath, Lichfield and died a few years later, on 29 July 1919. Loader was additionally entitled to a single British War Medal; sold together with copied research.
