George Critchell a 19-year-old labourer born at Bridport, Dorset enlisted in the 85th Foot on 27 October 1863. His service included home from 1863 to 1868, India from 1868 until 1879, home 1879 until his discharge on 28 October 1884; sold together with copied research.
Robert William Roberts born at Shrewsbury, Shropshire on 23 July 1873 was a collier when he attested for the Shropshire Light Infantry on 7 November 1892 at Shrewsbury. He received the L.S.& G.C. in October 1911 with a £5 gratuity. From 17 May 1911 until 6 November 1913, he was Acting Sergeant Major of the 1st Battalion, Herefordshire Regiment following which he sought his discharge from the army. He was commissioned Hon. Lieutenant and Quartermaster in the 1st Battalion Herefordshire Regiment on 7 November 1913 and served during the Great War being wounded at Gallipoli from shrapnel. He is entitled to a 1914-15 Star trio and Silver War Badge; sold together with proceedings of the medical board, copy birth certificate and extracts from the Regimental history.
