William Horace Limburn was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire on 11 April 1905. He and his sister Gertrude were raised by their mother Eleanor, noted on the census as being married but also as the head of the household, who worked as a corset maker. Limburn worked as an engineer's assistant and as a labourer before joining the Royal Navy in 1919, being rated Acting Leading Stoker on 4 May. He formally engaged with the Royal Navy for a 12 year period of service on 11 January 1924, a few months shy of his eighteenth birthday.

Limburn was finally advanced Leading Stoker on 4 May 1930 and was further promoted Stoker Petty Officer on 21 December 1934 while serving aboard H.M.S. Dauntless. He was presented with his L.S. & G.C. Medal with gratuity on 28 April 1939.

Limburn continued to serve and during the Second World War was stationed on H.M.S. Victory II, with whom he was rated Chief Stoker on 13 January 1940, and further saw service with Pembroke, Europa, Victory III, Prosperpine, Edinburgh Castle and Barfleur. After a very long naval career, Limburn was discharged on 10 April 1946 and he later died in Petersfield, Hampshire in early 1983; sold together with copied research.

Arthur Cartwright was born on 13 May 1913 and served as an Electrician's Mate in the Royal Navy. He died at the age of 43 while serving with H.M.S. St. Kitts on 1 February 1957; sold together with copied Roll of Honour entry.
