Frank Jones was born on 23 October 1885 in Liverpool, Lancashire, He first served on 1 July 1901 on H.M.S. Caledonia, with his trade listed as 'Wood Case Maker'. He served throughout the First World War as a Leading Seaman and was entitled to the 1914 Star Trio. He left the Navy on 3 December 1924, and his last ship was H.M.S. Pembroke I.
