Bruce Ernest Belmont was born on 16 August 1921 at Port Macquarie, New South Wales and enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force as a Leading Aircraftman on 2 June 1940 from which he was discharged on 19 August 1944. He re-enlisted on 11 April 1946 embarking for Korea on 16 March 1953 with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australia Regiment. He was attached to the 25th Canadian Infantry from July 1953 until January 1954 before returning to Australia later that year. He later served with the 13th Cadet Brigade in Tamworth before being discharged and enlisting in the Citizen Military Forces on 16 May 1964 having been advanced to WOII with the 7th Supply platoon Royal Australian Army service Corps. He was finally discharged on 27 April 1965. A letter in his copied service file states that he lost his Second World War service medals; sold together with copied research.
