Three: Sergeant R. G. Loadman, 68th (South Midland) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, who was taken a Prisoner of War and wounded at Dunkirk in 1940

Ralph Gowland Loadman was born in June 1918 at Sunderland and was wounded and taken a Prisoner of War in the actions around Dunkirk in May 1940. The unit were in action at Elverdinge near Ypres, covering the Yser. Expending all their ammunition, they destroyed their guns and moved to the Dunkirk bridgehead, being embarked on 30 May. Loadman was not in their number but returned for further active service in Malaya. He died in Berkshire in April 1998; sold together with copied research including a newspaper cutting which includes his portrait photograph.
