Thomas Magness was born at Camberwell, London and attested on 8 February 1909, serving with the 1st Battalion and 4th Battalions during the Great War. The Regimental Journal of June 1927 states:

'As regards changes in the Company: C.S.M. Magness left us just before we came to Cologne, after four years as C.S.M. of "Y" Company, to join the permanent [SIC] staff of the 4th Battalion, and C.S.M. Silver war appointed in his place.'

Magness was discharged at Shrewsbury on 7 February 1930 and died in the Summer of 1961; sold together with copied research.
