Approximately 116 ‘Kachin Hills 1892-93’ clasps issued to the 2nd Battalion, The Prince of Wales’ Own Yorkshire Regiment, the only British regiment employed during these operations.

William Carter was born in 1865 at Bedale, Yorkshire and enlisted in October 1887. He served in India from December 1889-October 1892, before proceeding to Upper Burma from 22 October 1892-26 March 1895 (Medal & clasp). Discharged in October 1899, he returned to the fold and served in South Africa during the Boer War from 7 March 1900-6 September 1902 (Queen's Medal & 5 clasps, King's Medal & 2 clasps). He was again discharged in October 1903.
