Allan Mitchell King Power was born at Sydney on 3 April 1919 and entered the New South Wales Police Force on 15 September 1936 as a Cadet. He was first appointed a Probationary Constable with 20 Division (Special Squad) on 3 October 1939 and confirmed as Constable on 5 November 1940.

Joining the Vice Squadron on 18 May 1945 Power was appointed Detective Constable on 10 October 1949 and Detective Sergeant on 25 March 1957. Commissioned Inspector on 1 October 1967 with 13 Division he was appointed to command 19 Division on 10 June 1974.

Further promoted Superintendent on 3 February 1976 he became Superintendent in Charge of 'G' District on 15 March. Advanced Chief Superintendent on 13 July 1977 he was finally appointed Chief Superintendent Metropolitan Area on 1 August 1977, just after the award of the King's Police Medal. Power retired on 2 April 1979; sold together with copied research.
