Henry Chesterfield was born at St. Austell on 21 September 1890 and was a shipwright before he joined the Royal Navy on 20 October 1913. He spent his entire Great War service on Africa, a pre-dreadnought battleship, until he joined Pembroke II on 8 November 1918, before completing his service in August 1928. However, Chesterfield re-engaged on 20 October 1935 as a Chief Shipwright I (Pens) and may have seen further Second World War service.
