Frederick Thornton Trevor Moore was born at Chiculdah, India on 20 May 1870, the son of Richard and Mary Moore. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 11 June 1887 with the Indian Army and promoted Lieutenant on 2 June 1888. A letter written by the recipient in 1915 covers some of his career during this time stating:
'I was Adjutant of my own Regiment the 4th Cavalry, Indian Army, Adjutant of the 28th Imperial Yeomanry, which Corp I helped to raise and took it to South Africa.
I raised and commanded the 56th Camel Corps, commended the 10th Mule Corps on the Tibet Expedition. I was Station Staff Officer at Jubblepore.'
Moore was a Captain with the 4th (Bengal) Lancers when the Anglo-Boer War broke out, he helped to raise and command the 28th Imperial Yeomanry in that conflict. Seeing service in Tibet with the same rank but serving with the Mule Corps he was one of 11 Captains on the mission fulfilling a vital role. Retiring on 11 August 1911 Moore clearly wished to return to service and was recommended for a vacant Majority with the 3rd Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel of 3rd Battalion on 4 August 1914 he was later given responsibility for raising and commanding 7th Service Battalion, Royal Irish Fusiliers. Moore entered the war in France from 18 February 1916 and remained there for 8 months, until the battalion was amalgamated. He was Mentioned in Sir Douglas Haig's despatch of 7 November 1917 (London Gazette 1 January 1918). He died at Richmond, Yorkshire, on 15 November 1925; sold together with copied research.
