Victory Medal 1914-19, (Lieut. H. Stevens.), with M.I.D. oak leaves; (1365 Bdr. W. Gray, V. A. Btty.), second lightly polished, generally good very fine (2)

H. Stevens served in East Africa with the King's African Rifles and was awarded a Mention-in-Despatches in the London Gazette of 31 January 1919. His M.I.C. confirms the entitlement to an 'Emblem', and further notes he applied for his campaign awards (British War and Victory Medals) in 1926 whilst living in Albaston, Gunnislake, Cornwall. Despite the seemingly common details, only one man is noted with this combination of rank, initial, and surname.

William Gray is confirmed as serving in East Africa with the Calcutta Volunteer Battery from 3 October 1914 and is additonally entitled to the 1914-15 Star and British War Medal 1914-20.

Sold together with copied Medal Index Card and small name plaque for each individual.
