Great Britain
Royalty
Queen Elizabeth II
1950 Autograph letter as Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh, written from Clarence House, with the original registered autograph envelope, to Mr Haynes regarding a Welsh corgi who was bred in the Royal Kennels and born on 16 May 1949. The dog's Kennel Club registration certificate is present, where HRH Princess Elizabeth is named as the breeder. The "Our Dogs Pedigree Form" is present naming the Princess, who in her letter forwards a photograph (still with this letter) of the dog's father "in case you are interested to see what he looks like". The future Queen refers to Prince Charles "I am so glad you like him [the corgi] and that he has grown into a nice dog. I have his sister, and I am very fond of her, as is my son who gets on very well with her, I'm glad to say".
A wonderful letter and accompanying documents, referring to the late Queen's love for her corgis. Her pets remained with her throughout her lifetime.
