(x) Admiral John Jervis, Earl St. Vincent, a fine collection of related documents, including orders and letters

Autograph letter written just a few short weeks after the Battle of St. Vincent to Lord Mark Kerr on board the Spanish prize San Ysidro expressing his satisfaction with Kerr, written and signed by Jervis on board H.M.S. Victory, dated 2 March 1797, a few small pinholes along folds, text is clear and legible;

Order to Captain Darby of H.M.S. Bellerophon to put himself under Jervis’s command, signed by Jervis aboard Victory in the Tagus, dated 27 March 1797, slight margin tears along folds, light ageing, otherwise clear and legible;

Order for the Captains of Levaithan and Powerful to go aboard Edgar and report on the health of First Lieutenant Richard Leggatt, signed St. Vincent on board Ville de Paris off the coast of Cadiz, dated 5 September 1798, in very fine condition for its age;

Order for Walther Bathurst Esq. to assume command of H.M.S. Kingfisher, signed St. Vincent on board L’Aurore, dated 22 October 1798, light foxing and ageing;

Order for Captain William Moore of Vesuvius to “take under your Command all such Supernumeraries, Imprest Men, Invalids, Men belonging to other ships…”, signed St. Vincent on board Le Souverain at Gibraltar, dated 31 October 1798, a slight margin split and two minor pinholes along reverse folds;

Letter addressed to a number of Captains detailing the proper preservation of bread aboard ships, signed St. Vincent on board Ville de Paris off Cadiz, dated 15 August 1798, light ageing and minor edge wear;

Letter requesting the supply of beds, hammocks and marine clothing for the fleet under his command, signed St. Vincent on board Le Souverain at Gibraltar, dated 4 November 1798, light edge wear and age stains, text clear and legible;

Together with two portrait prints of Jervis, each with some foxing and edge wear (9)
